Founders Story
Ventura Football Network was created from lived experience. Cameron DeJong has experienced the game from multiple sides: as a player, captain, coach, director, organizer, and community builder. That background gives VFN a foundation that is both personal and practical.
Cameron understands the soccer system because he has lived inside it. He has seen how much talent exists locally, but he has also seen how many players are limited by cost, lack of exposure, lack of guidance, and lack of access to the right networks. Many players have the ability and desire to continue growing in the game, but they are often left without a clear pathway forward.
VFN was built to address that gap. It was not created as a one-time event idea or a traditional club model. It was created as a response to a larger need in the soccer community: the need for a more connected, affordable, and opportunity-driven system.
Cameron’s journey gives VFN credibility because the organization is built by someone who has been directly involved in local soccer as a player, coach, program leader, and community advocate. His experience includes playing locally, captaining a men’s first team, serving in leadership at Sporting FC, coaching high school soccer, organizing showcase events, and building relationships across clubs, players, families, scouts, colleges, media partners, and local businesses.
Cameron’s vision is to build an organization that combines community impact with long-term sustainability. VFN is rooted in the belief that players should not be limited by financial barriers, geography, or lack of connections. At the same time, the organization must be financially strong enough to keep growing, improving, and serving more players over time.
That combination of purpose and business discipline is what makes VFN different. It is not just a passion project. It is a developing football ecosystem built by someone who understands the game, the community, the players, and the opportunity.
