SBVFC Tryouts – Round Two Recap

July 12, 2025 – Teague Park, Santa Paula, CA

Last night, San Buenaventura FC held its second official open tryout at Teague Park in Santa Paula — continuing the process of building Ventura County’s newest semi-professional football team under the Ventura Football Network.

24 players showed up, bringing quality, intensity, and a clear hunger to compete. The entire session was run as a full 11v11 scrimmage, giving players the opportunity to showcase their abilities in a true game environment. From strong defensive play to dynamic attacking sequences, coaches and staff were impressed by the overall level and potential on display.

A Free and Professional Experience

As with all VFN events, the tryout was completely free for every participant — staying true to our mission of removing financial barriers and creating real, accessible opportunities.

Every player who attended received:

  • Full match footage from our Hudl camera system

  • Professional photography captured during the session

  • A fair and open shot at earning a place on the inaugural SBVFC squad

Local community members once again came out to support, lining the sidelines and reinforcing the sense that something special is being built right here in Santa Paula.

What’s Ahead

SBVFC’s roster is starting to take shape as we approach our first UPSL season — but there are still decisions to be made and more opportunities to come. We’re continuing to look for players who reflect the grit, commitment, and quality we aim to bring to the pitch every matchday.

A big thank-you to all who participated. The standard has been set — and the journey is just getting started.
