March 30 Showcase Recap: The Beginning
March 30, 2024 – Buena High School, Ventura, CA
On March 30, 2024, Ventura Football Network hosted its first-ever player showcase, officially launching a movement to change the football landscape from the ground up. Held at Buena High School in Ventura, CA, this event was about more than matches — it was about proving what’s possible when the mission comes first.
A total of 35 players participated across three focused sessions:
A goalkeeper showcase offering position-specific training and evaluation
A boys’ showcase match for youth-level talent
A men’s showcase match featuring free agents, JUCO players, and post-high school athletes
Cost Shouldn’t Be a Barrier
While this first showcase did include a small registration fee, VFN made sure that no deserving player was turned away. Through scholarships and discounted entry, we ensured that cost wouldn’t stand between a player and their future.
High-Quality Exposure
From day one, VFN committed to delivering real exposure — not empty promises.
The event was covered by a professional media crew, using TV-quality cameras for video and on-site photographers to capture every moment. Players left with professional footage and photos to help elevate their recruiting and highlight reels.
Real Outcomes
Even as our first event, the showcase delivered:
4 players signed with Korsnäs FF in Finland
1 player received interest from Cal State Monterey Bay (CSUMB)
Additional athletes drew attention from local college programs
The message was clear: if the opportunity is real, results will follow.
Community Support and Coaching Power
This event would not have been possible without the generosity and collaboration of our partners, coaches, and volunteers. Special thanks to:
Next Autobody Shop – Jersey sponsor
East Ventura Rotary – Jersey sponsor
VTA Soccer Stop – Supporter and gear contributor
Sporting FC coaching staff – On-site coaching and mentorship
Rebels FC coaching staff – On-site coaching and support
Coach Marlon Devalle (CSUN Assistant Coach) – Led goalkeeper training and evaluation
Their involvement elevated the level of professionalism, connection, and opportunity on the field.
A Movement Begins
This showcase was more than a single-day event — it was the start of a new kind of football experience. One that puts access, exposure, and development first.
From the first whistle to the last goal, March 30 proved that you don’t need to pay thousands to be seen. You just need the right platform — and the right people behind it.
And now, it’s only grown from here.
